CONCUSSION TRAINING GUIDE

Concussion training is essential, both to raise awareness of the condition and to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to avoid hindering a successful recovery. The support of the affected person's immediate environment can significantly contribute to their recovery, which is why disseminating this guide is a priority.

At AS&NL we have collaborated in the publication of the Training Guide on CONCURRENT, edited by the following doctors:

Dr. Franchek Drobnic Martínez
Dr. Luis Mendía Espinosa de los Monteros
Dr. José Carlos Saló Cuenca
Dr. Carles Luaces Cubells

With the collaboration of the following societies:

  • AEMEF (Spanish Association of Football Doctors)
  • AEMB (Spanish Association of Basketball Doctors)
  • Medical Commission of the Spanish Rugby Federation
  • Emergency service of the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital in Barcelona.

At AS&NL we promote the recommendations stipulated in the “Concussion Training Guide”, and as a result of this collaboration we developed infographics detailing the decision-making process to follow according to the RGD (Gradual Return to Sport) for footballers, basketball players and rugby players.

CRT6 Rapid Concussion Recognition Technique

The importance of making the CRT6 tool available to society is that, in the case of sports, most participants are amateurs and do not have access to medical support during matches. Therefore, with this tool, the coach can recognize that a player has suffered a concussion and can act accordingly, removing the player from the field and referring them to a doctor for treatment.

CRT6

The Concussion Rapid Recognition Technique (Pocket CRT) serves as a reminder of the signs and symptoms of concussion.

The function of CRT6 is to IDENTIFY and REMOVE. If any of the signs or symptoms listed on page 1 of the Rapid Concussion Recognition Technique are identified and/or the player does not correctly answer the five memory questions on page 2 of the Rapid Concussion Recognition Technique, the player MUST be removed from the field of play for a thorough medical examination.
